The Central Alberta Softball League is an attempt by volunteer leaders from smaller communities in the area to provide some structure and competitive balance to scheduling softball games in the spring season. We have asked for earlier declarations of teams and their competitive abilities based on pitching strength to properly match games that benefit the development of all players in the area. We hope to build games to better develop the players to advance in the sport and prepare teams for their tournament season into the summer.
Prior to the Central Alberta Scheduling meeting held in Red Deer on April 19 at 6:30 pm (Holiday Inn Gasoline Alley), if your team was declared for CASL, you are presented with an 8-10 week schedule that contains at least 8-10 games depending on the number of teams per division. In some cases, games were designed to accommodate travel distances or the level of competition being requested. At the Central Alberta Scheduling meeting, as managers, you will be expected to work with the opposing teams for each week and their manager to decide on dates, times, and diamonds for your proposed game. You may choose to flex your game schedule based on your local diamond availability, you may choose to run a doubleheader or tri-meet on weekends if that better suits your team's needs. We will also provide a team's contact list so that any additional exhibition games can be built to supplement your spring season.
Upon league game completion, we will ask that you fill out this Google Form to document the standings:
